In poker tournaments, a situation is often encountered called the chip race. This is found mostly in games like the Texas hold ‘em, where the blind bet size grows progressively bigger and certain values of chips become redundant in play and are taken out of the game. This has the advantage of reducing the chip stack that a player has by eliminating not-to-be-used chips from gameplay and he can now manage his stock of chips piled before him, count it and make bets more easily.

When a chip race is taking place in a tournament game, all participants try to exchange the lower chips and get a higher value chip. So, if the blind bet value has risen and $5 chips are no more needed, then players try to convert maximum of their $5 chips in to 5-chip set and get a single $25 chip, in the process being left with only a few $5 chips that could not be converted as it was lesser than a multiple of five. The spare chips are collected and the table receives larger value chips of equivalent amount. If six players are in the table with a total of 20 numbers of $5 chips then four $25 are prepared. If the leftover chips cannot be converted to a big chip directly but the amount is more than half the value of a big chip, then an extra big chip is supplied. So, if there were 16 numbers of $5 chips, then there would be three $25 chips and five $5 chips still extra. However, if there are18 numbers of $5 chips then after providing three $25 chips, the rets chips add up to $15 which is more than half the value of the big chip. Consequently, the table will be given four $25 chips even though the total fell short.

In poker games, two very important concepts are buying in and cards speaking and it is important to know what they refer to.

In poker tournaments, participants are required to make a payment as the entry fee which is called the buy-in. The value of this buy-in contributes to the pot size of the tournament and also part of the charge or rake collected by the casino house as expenses. So, if 50 participants want to play in a tournament, each may have to pay a buy-in of $110 where $100 will contribute to build up the pot and 10% of this amount or $10 is the house rake. So, the prize money for they tournament becomes $5000 while the casino hosting the tournament gets $500 as rake.

The concept of cards speaking can be explained in two situations regarding poker games. So, when a high/low split poker game is being played and no declaration has been made by the players, then the concept of cards speaking means that each player exposes his cards during showdown and the one with the highest hand wins the top half of the pot and the player with the lowest hand wins the bottom half, with the same player with both best high and low hands, scoops the game.

Otherwise in poker games cards speaking can also refer to a casino house rule according to which if a player makes a mistake or a deliberate wrong verbal declaration, it would not be binding on him and his cards will actually determine how he fares in the game. Depending on the house, the casino reserves the right to declare the hand of the player who had made a wrong call as foul. However, cards speaking do not judge the winner of a pot, it only states that in poker games the actual merits of the card ultimately determines a player’s hands and not what he may declare his value as.

Texas Hold ‘em is one of the most popular variation of poker that are played for very high stakes not only as a casino gambling game but also in tournament mode. Moreover, playing a game of Texas Hold ‘em at home is a different ballgame than playing it in the casino. While it may look easy to play, Playing Texas Hold ‘em requires considerable skill and experience. So, a wise gambler will always be discreet and learn the ropes first and play with low stakes before entering the casino to play for high stakes.

The game has a double-edge as it is played against other players. Not only a player stands the chance to cash in the mistakes of his opponents, he also has to be careful not to fall prey to the same mistakes giving away the advantage to his opponents. The most basic strategy in playing Texas Hold ‘em is thus to decide when to keep on playing and when to fold the hand.

Even position of the player, an underestimated factor in playing this gambling game, can affect the course of the game and determine the results and fortune. The would-be Texas Hold ‘em champion gamer also needs to be aware about how best to select his starting hands and not make the common error of thinking too many hands increase chance of winning. Another important tip for the Texas Hold ‘em player is regarding the crucial choice he must make whether to continue playing after seeing the flop. Also, the Turn in a game of Texas Hold ‘em is a defining moment; for with betting limits doubled and 86% of the final hand known and only one more card to come, the decision to play or fold will determine eventually whether one is favored to win big or lose heavily.

Being a community card game, Texas Hold’em gets to see the cards are being dealt face-up in the middle of the table and allocated equally to all the players. Each player gets to have two down cards of theirs alone with the five community cards to further join them to come up with the best possible five-card hand. Texas Hold’em game kicks-off by serving two cards face down to each player, called as “hole cards” or “pocket cards”. A round of betting just follows after it. A good number of hold’em games see the start of the betting by way of one or two “blind bets” to the left of the dealer.

Such bets are labeled as forced bets, require to be made before seeing one’s cards. Play moves on in a clockwise pattern from the blinds, offering each player prospect to fold, call the blind bet, or raise. Typically the blinds are kept live; it denotes there ability to raise themselves as soon as the action comes back around to them. Further three cards get thrown out face up in the middle of the table; known as the “flop”. A round of betting gets underway with action shifting focus on the first blind, right away to the dealers left.

Hope to see another card being dealt face up after another round of betting, paving way for the final card to be dealt after the final round of betting. The game typically gets played for high only where players vie to form the best five-card combination to struggle for the pot. Players by and large make use of both their hole cards to put up their best hand; however this is not called for. A player may possibly even wish to “play the board” without getting to make use of hole cards at all.

One of the classic variations of community card poker games is Omaha hold’ em. Several poker games are referred to as Omaha in the casinos of North America with the original game being called Omaha High. Even European version of this poker called the high game by Omaha. The high/low split game is called Omaha Hi-Lo or Omaha 8-or-better. While most Omaha games are pot limit, some casinos and online playrooms offer no limit versions as well.

A game of Omaha hold ‘em starts with every player receiving four hole cards of his own and this opens betting. Then the flop of three community cards is dealt and a second betting round takes place. This is followed by the dealing of the turn and river community cards separately and with two corresponding betting rounds. For the showdown, the player who makes the best 5-card hand out of two of his own hole cards and three from the board takes the pot.

The high/low split variant of Omaha community card poker game requires the players to form two separate complete hands – one high and the other low. In such games the ace card can have both high and low value. The player who has the best high and the best low hand splits the pot, although there is a chance of the same player having both the best hands. When no player qualifies for a low hand, the high hand winner scoops the entire pot.

The European game of Courcheval slightly differs from Omaha. Here the first community card is dealt along with initial four hole cards and only then betting starts. So, in the flop round, two community cards are dealt and rest of the game is the same as Omaha. To make the game a little more varying, there are sometimes five initial hole cards, though showdown allows use of only two from them.
